Fall Farm Wedding at Historic Barn in Portland Maine

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text margin_bottom=”10″ css=”.vc_custom_1555186484512{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Maine’s landscape has an undeniable historic connection to the land and to agriculture — just drive down any country road in Maine and witness the old farmhouses with attached barns that have become iconic symbols of the Maine landscape, a remnant from the past. That past is kept alive today, as many of these historic farm properties have been restored and rejuvenated, with a new purpose for a new generation. Here in Maine, these old farmhouses with their massive barns provide just the space needed to host a wedding ceremony, with plenty of room for dancing, and where farm style dinner tables naturally fit into a space which once housed hay and livestock. In the summer, the barn doors can be open to provide fresh air, and in the fall they can be closed to keep the warmth of the party inside. Such was the case for Andrew and Julie’s wedding ceremony at the Barn at Flanagan Farm in Buxton, Maine, just outside of Portland. It started out as a cold October day with a steady wet rain, the grey skies making the golden tones on the trees stand out against the landscape, popping with their autumn colors. The rain cleared up in the afternoon, allowing us to go outside and photograph on the property with Julie and Andrew for their first look. When the ceremony began, the sun was out in all of its late October hues. But this being Maine, and Maine weather being known for changing on a dime, clouds rolled in again at the cocktail hour, before giving way to the most spectacular double rainbow. Double rainbows are pretty rare and pretty special when you see them, but to have one on your wedding day, within the first hour of having said your vows, was especially meaningful, almost as if nature herself was giving Julie and Andrew a congratulatory show.

To Julie and Andrew, we hope these images will always take you back to that October day in Maine, when you were married on the farm, and became husband and wife. We wish you many happy years!
